MACRO

These two-day courses will concentrate on creating stunning images at close quarters.  You will learn techniques on how to deal with small creatures, plants and flowers and how to create abstract images from everyday objects.  Where possible the course will make use of seasonally available subject matters ranging from orchids to toadstools.  You will gain a thorough understanding of different lighting techniques and compositional challenges associated with working so close to your subject. This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in Macro Photography and you will need to use your own 1:1 macro lens.

Alex Hyde MSci.MSc. is a natural history photographer based in the Peak District National Park. His in-depth knowledge of natural history underpins his imaging, allowing him to capture intimate portraits of wildlife in it's natural habitat.

We will begin day 1 with an explanation of macro techniques and a slideshow of macro photographs in the Centre.  The rest of the day will be spent out in the field taking photographs, breaking for a pub lunch. In addition to group demonstrations, the tutor will have time to come round and assist clients individually.
Most of day 2 will be spent out in the field to maximise time behind the camera, building on the techniques from the previous day.  As before, lunch will be in a country pub. The day will conclude back at the Centre with a review of clients' work and a chance to ask any final questions.

As with all outdoor courses, we will pay close attention to the weather and may restructure the schedule as appropriate.
